Tekong

Yesterday (15 June 2007) was bro's "big" day. He got enlisted for NS at tekong so all of us tagged along. Reached there aroung 9am. walked around and went to board a shuttle bus to SAF ferry terminal at Pasir Ris. around 15 mins ride to the ferry terminal which is further up changi beach. Went to the security check and sat there to wait for the ferry.

Ferry took about 10 mins to arrive at tekong. Rather comfortable boat I must say. Then we were seprated from bro as he went on to do his admin stuff of handing over his ic for SAF pass. For the rest of us, we went on a tour around the school. Before boarding the bus at the parade square, each of us were given a "welcome" pack consisting of a packet of tissue, a bottle of mineral water, a 3 piece oreo pack and a blue pen.

Firt place we passed by was the SOC (standard obstacal course). Looks interesting and fun to me..hehe. Followed by some place for them to train their marksmanship. Forgot the name of it though... went 1 round outside BMTC sch 1 ( on the bus that is) . not bad got basketball courts. cook house was also nearby. Disembarked the bus at medical centre, where the tour guide explain that it is a 24h medic centre wif dental some more. After that, we walked to the bunks. In fact, it was better then I expected. Sufficient lightings, cupboards, clean room and beds. Even cleaner than chalets.lol . And also, got entertainment room where they have different news papers and games like pool table, table tennis, chess, etc.. and the surprising thing, it IS equiped with air -con. haha. I guess that place will be crowded at free time.

Next we proceed to the lecture room where we were briefed on the things that will be given when enlisted. quite a lot. I'm impressed by the way they pack their combat ration. 3 packs for 24h period. All planned properly. Followed on was a short break at the canteen then to the auditorium for cermony where CO of the company made a short speech, followed by pledge taking of enlistee and national anthem. Lastly, lunch wif bro at cook house. The food is actually what they are going to eat there. Not bad. consisted of a bread, rice, smashed potato, baked beans, a piece of chicken and a bowl of campbell soup. Ate till I was so full. After lunch, bro had to report to collect his equipment and we took a boat back to main island. O did I mention that the view ther was so beautiful? the sand at the beach and the sea . what a nice view. Didn't take apicture of it though. hehe. Can see Changi Airport's land mark from there and can see plans landing as well. I guess I wouldn't mind if u ask me to stay there. The whole process ended at around 2.30pm ,where we took a ferry to mainland, followed by the shuttle bus sending us back to pasir ris mrt station.

Before I forget, some dates for me to remember. 29 June (friday) afternoon will be bro's 1st book out. have to return to camp on 1 july ( sunday). 11 Sept (tuesday) official graduate from BMTC. 22 Sept ( saturday) informed of his new poasting and 24 Sept (Monday) report to his new vocation. Meanwhile, from 11 sept to 24 sept, he won't have to go back to tekong unless he has duty. hehe. Take care bro. We'll miss u.
